DHX revenue soars to C$260m
Canada’s DHX Media has posted fiscal year revenues of C$264 million (US$196.8 million) and net income of C$19.5 million.
The Halifax-based firm noted its full-year revenue was up 127% of the 2014 figure and net income 150%. Adjusted EBITDA was up 144% at C$90.2 million.
DHX owns television brands including Yo Gabba Gabba!, Teletubbies (pictured), In the Night Garden, Degrassi and Inspector Gadget.
The revenue boost was attributed to the acquisition of Bell Media’s children’s TV channels group, which have been pooled under the DHX Television brand. As a result of the deal, DHX firm now has assets in production, distribution and channels.
DHX Television brought in C$76.2 million, or 52% of the overall revenue increase, results for the year to July 31 showed.
Distribution, meanwhile, saw revenues grow to C$77.7 million, which represented a 25% overall revenue increase. This was up 90% year-on-year on 2014’s distribution figure. Production and producer fee revenues were also up significantly.
“This was a year of tremendous growth for DHX Media and we are extremely pleased to report increases across all key metrics,” said DHX CEO Dana Landry.
“We are now realising the rewards of the integrated platform we’ve been building over the past few years, as evidenced by our strong organic growth. We look forward in the coming year to building further on this platform to continue delivering shareholder value.”
DHX also revealed it had received board-level approval to buy back up to 10% of its public shares, which are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
