Fear the Walking Dead web series confirmed
The web series planned to tie in with AMC zombie drama Fear the Walking Dead will be a 16-parter running both online and on US cable.
Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 will follow a group of passengers on a commercial airplane during the earliest moments of the zombie outbreak that features in cable hits Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead.
Each short-form episode will run to less than one minute, with the first instalment debuting on AMC.com this Sunday (October 4). It will then air as a promo during two commercial breaks within The Walking Dead’s sixth season premiere on Sunday, October 11.
Subsequent episodes will debut every Sunday thereafter online and during The Walking Dead, which also runs to 16 episodes. Furthermore, one of the characters from Flight 462 will join the cast of next year’s Fear the Walking Dead season two.
Signorino and Mike Zunic are writing Flight 462, with Michael McDonough, Fear’s director of photography, directing.
“Flight 462 is a great extension of the world of Fear and will engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the start of the fall of civilisation,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV.
Fear the Walking Dead launched in August as the highest-rated cable series debut of all time, with 10.1 million viewers. The original Walking Dead series is the highest-rating basic cable show of all time.
