Pioneer, PAAN to release 4K Mutants in Cannes

The Mutants Who Made Us, a two-part 4K science documentary for Korean broadcaster KBS, will launch in Cannes as the first fruit of UK-South Korean joint venture Buzz Media.

The 2x60mins show, shot in ultra-high definition, looks at how mutations in the gene pool have made humans into what we are today.

Producer Buzz is a JV between the UK’s Pioneer Productions and South Korea’s PAAN. It will debut Mutants… to buyers next week at MIPCOM.

“We’re thrilled to launch Buzz Media’s first landmark science doc,” said Pioneer and Buzz managing director Kirstie McLure. “It’s a common misconception to apply negative thoughts to mutations, but without them we wouldn’t be the humans we are today.

“We’re looking forward to taking this to MIPCOM and introducing the show to international buyers in full 4K future proof glory.”

Since KBS commission of Mutants…, Buzz has also landed a second South Korean order. Science doc Making Faces is for MBC and will debut next year.
