Blue Ant cuts Zig Zag deal, brings 4K to Cannes
Blue Ant International has inked a development and distribution deal with UK indie Zig Zag Productions.
The UK prodco announced it was staffing up earlier this week, and the agreement will see Canada-based Blue Ant invest in Zig Zag’s slate and sell some of its content internationally.
The company operates specialty channels in Canada and Blue Ant International is the media firm’s distribution division.
“Zig Zag Productions delivers premium content, as well as extensive knowledge of international financing,” said Solange Attwood, senior VP, Blue Ant International. “We believe Zig Zag’s content will provide a consistent and reliable pipeline of high quality content for our global clients.”
“Blue Ant Media’s expertise and investment in becoming a global distribution leader made it a perfect choice to collaborate on international distribution“ added Danny Fenton (pictured), CEO, Zig Zag Productions.
The deal comes too soon for Blue Ant to have Zig Zag content for MIPCOM, but the distributor has a full slate, with one of the largest 4K offerings at the market.
In addition to the previously announced new ultra HD titles for the market, Blue Ant will also have several 4K wildlife titles, which it markets under the Love Nature brand. Titles include Great Blue Wild and Land of Gremlins, in addition to programming blocks such as Wildest Mondays and Water Wednesdays.
