Foxtel buys doc from rebranded Espresso
Australia pay TV service Foxtel has acquired space documentary Is Anybody Out There? from the newly-rebranded Espresso Media International.
The doc will debut on Foxtel-operated factual net History HD tomorrow at 8.30pm following the agreement.
The 1x52mins programme, which has aired on TVE in Spain, explores the age-old question of whether humans are alone in the universe by looking at notorious interstellar incidents such as one in 1977 when a 77-second signal from the Sagittarius constellation was received on Earth.
Espresso Media, which rebranded from Espresso TV last month while also production arm Espresso Productions, sells space docs including NASA’s 10 Greatest Achievements and The Sky is Not the Limit: The Chris Hadfield Story.
“We believe Is Anybody Out There? has had such an international draw because the topic of space exploration remains high on the broadcast agenda,” said Espresso Media managing director David Hooper. “We’re in talks with a number of other territories so we’re confident this is the first deal of many.”
