Job losses expected after NBCU nets restructure
NBCUniversal is merging its UK and emerging markets channels business under its current central and eastern Europe managing director Colin McLeod, TBI sister publication DTVE has learned.
McLeod (left) will be managing director of the UK and emerging markets business and that the UK managing director role occupied by Nicky Douglas will be abolished.
DTVE reports Douglas and a number of other staff at the UK operation are likely to be made redundant.
It is understood that NBCUniversal has taken a strategic decision that it makes sense to have a single channels group under one leader going forwards.
The changes follow the group’s decision in August to create a new EMEA structure based on what it describes as a multi-territory, regional hub aligning distribution and networks businesses in the EMEA region.
This followed the creation of similar hubs for the Latin American and Asian businesses.
EMEA move saw Satpal Brainch given the new role of managing director, distribution and networks, EMEA, with overall control of both the channels business and content distribution, and former southern Europe distribution and channels managing director Carolyn Stalins given the role of senior VP, distribution, EMEA.
