ITV brings Darnell-Burnett gameshow to UK
UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a local version of Mike Darnell and Mark Burnett’s big-ticket gameshow 500 Questions.
ITV plans to launch its version in a primetime slot next year, with Warner Bros. Television Production UK-owned Wall to Wall producing a four-episode season.
Wall to Wall stablemate Warner Bros. International Television Distribution sells the format globally, with Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution selling the original ABC series, which launched in May last year to decent ratings and has a second run coming.
The show sees ulta-smart contestants attempting to answer tough questions to win money, with anyone answering three wrong in a row failing.
ITV’s commissioning editor, entertainment, Asif Zubairy called the format “edge-of-the-seat” viewing that would be “an exciting addition to the ITV entertainment slate”.
Wall to Wall’s head of entertainment, Moira Ross, will executive produce the show, with Laura Turner series producing.
Germany’s RTL ordered its own version earlier this year.
