New Nick show shot in Dutch and English
Nickelodeon has commissioned a new project that will yield a globally-commissioned English-lanaguage show and a Dutch-language series for Nick Netherlands.
The series are The Ludwigs and De Ludwigs, with both shows being shot in Amsterdam, the Netherlands next year. The shows will share the same scripts and production sets, with Blooming Media is attached to produce.
“We have been able to increase content production on a local and global level using what we are calling a ‘simultaneous production’ strategy,” said Jules Borkent, senior VP, global acquisitions and international programming, Nick, Viacom International Media Networks (pictured).
“We are using this strategy more frequently, as we have seen great success with this model with productions such as Every Witch Way, and Talia in the Kitchen.
“We work with amazing partners who create beautifully designed sets and employ incredibly skilled teams, so why not find multiple ways to use them, to offer our audiences a diverse slate of content both at a global and local level?”
The comedic shows follow five foster children on a mission to discover what happened to their foster parents after they disappear.
De Ludwigs will air on Nick Netherlands in spring 2016 and The Ludwigs on international Nick channels in the second half of next year.
Nick has worked on international programming initiatives out of the Netherlands in the past. Live-action series House of Anubis was a joint Dutch, Belgian and British commission based on Dutch show Het Huis Anubis.
