ITV Studios deal with Christina Wayne’s Assembly
The US arm of ITV Studios has inked an overall deal with Assembly Entertainment, the US prodco run by former Cineflix exec Christina Wayne.
Scripted prodco Assembly is currently making a pilot for premium cable net Showtime, and said it has nine one-hour dramas in development at different US cable nets.
Its exclusive pod deal with ITV Studios America reunites the company’s scripted boss Philippe Maigret with Wayne, after the pair worked together at Endemol.
“Christina and her team were tantamount to my success at Endemol when I signed them as my first pod deal and their keen sense of identifying great material and attracting stellar talent consistently impresses me,” said Maigret. “I look forward to continuing our journey of making great television together.”
“Philippe and I share a love for great storytelling and our partnerships have always proved fruitful,” added Wayne. “I’m ecstatic to be his first pod deal once again and to work together in building a great scripted roster for ITV Studios America.”
Wayne was running Cineflix’s scripted division but left in 2013 and set up Assembly, agreeing a deal with Endemol. It was Endemol’s first pod deal and, having moved with Maigret to ITV, Assembly’s roster of projects will now be backed by ITV Studios America.
ITV Studios recently restructured its US operation, installing Brent Montgomery at the helm. Former Endemol Studios boss Maigret remains the head of the drama division, having joined in July.
