Red Arrow opens Icelandic drama Case

Red Arrow International has snagged rights to Case, a new crime drama out of Iceland.

The 9x1hr series went out on Channel 2 in Iceland, winning an 80% viewing share.

It is produced by local prodco Sagafilm and comes from Icelandic director Baldvin Z (Life in a Fishbowl). The psychological thriller looks at the impact that a tragedy has on a small community.

Red Arrow will be shopping the finished version and the Case format.

Gudny Gudjonsdottir, CEO of Sagafilm, said: “Case builds on the domestic success we have enjoyed with legal drama Réttur and has already proved to resonate with audiences in Iceland. We are looking forward to now sharing our drama with the rest of the world.”

Henrik Pabst, managing director of Red Arrow International, said: “Case comes from the tradition of Scandi crime shows, but the Reykjavik setting in a small, closed community puts a whole new and exciting twist on the genre. We are thrilled to be distributing Baldvin Z’s latest show.”

While dramas from the neighbouring Scandi region have become international hits, Icelandic scripted shows are thin on the ground in terms of international success, although last year TBI broke the news that UK pubcaster BBC Four had acquired Dynamic Television-distributed series Trapped.
