All3 buys Indian Summers producer
All3Media has acquired New Pictures, the UK indie behind Channel 4 ratings hit Indian Summers (pictured).
The move bolsters All3’s drama assets, which currently include Midsomer Murders prodco Bentley Productions, Neal Street Productions (Ripper Street) and Company Pictures (Skins, Shameless).
Former Company boss Charlie Pattinson created New Pictures with Claine Pyke, Willow Grylls and Richard Nelson in 2013, with All’s sales arm, All3Media International, backing it financially through a first-look agreement.
The company went on to make shows such as Indian Summers for Channel 4 in the UK and WGBH in the US, and BBC One and Starz coproduction The Missing. Two BBC One dramas, Rellik and Requiem, have since been commissioned for the 2016 and 2017.
“I am absolutely delighted to be working with Charlie, Elaine, WiIllow and Richard as they develop and grow their slate of programmes through New Pictures,” said All3 CEO Jane Turton. “They are a fantastic team with a phenomenal track record and very exciting plans for the business.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is one of the largest for UK-based All3 since Discovery Communications and Liberty Global teamed to buy the business in 2014.
