Amazon greenlights Jim Jarmusch movie
Amazon’s latest foray into original feature films will be Paterson from Jim Jarmusch (Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, Broken Flowers, Down By Law).
The film will have a theatrical release later this year and also launch on the Prime Instant Video streaming service, aping the model pioneered by Netflix with Beasts of No Nation.
The film will star Adam Driver (Girls, The Force Awakens) as a bus driver, working and observing life in the city of Paterson over the course of a week.
“Paterson is a funny, philosophical and moving story that only Jim can tell. We look forward to working closely with him and supporting his vision in bringing the film to life,” said Ted Hope, head of motion picture production at Amazon Studios.
Amazon brought in Hope last year to spearhead its movie into original features. Its movie efforts so far include Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq, which will go out on Prime next month.
