Fox to reboot 24 with new hero
US broadcaster Fox has ordered a pilot for a rebooted 24, which will feature all-new characters.
24 producers Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz are behind 24: Legacy, which also has Brian Glazer attached as an executive producer.
The action drama will be the first not starring Kiefer Sutherland as agent Jack Bauer.
This comes after Fox brought back the 24 franchise in 2014 with limited series 24: Live Another Day. The original series (pictured) ran between 2001 and 2010, and comprised 192 episodes.
Coto and Katz wrote the new pilot, which will feature a troubled military hero who returns to the US and attempts to stop a huge terrorist attack on America.
24 producers 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Teakwood Lane Productions are attached to create the pilot. Sutherland is among the executive producers.
