NATPE: Comarex names veteran as president
Mexican content distributor Comarex has named veteran sales executive Marcel Vinay Sr. as its new president.
He joined the company on a full-time basis yesterday as NATPE got underway in Miami.
Vinay Sr. was most recently VP of international sales at TV Azteca, and he will now work alongside his son, Marcel Vinay Jr., who is Comarex’s CEO.
Comarex is the exclusive distributor of TV Azteca’s programming internationally. In the new post, Vinay Sr. oversees global sales activities for the entire company catalogue.
Vinay Sr. has worked in Latin American television for five decades at companies such as Azteca, Telecadena and Televisa in various channels, sales and acquisition roles.
Having begun his career in 1966, he went on to become the first Latin American Sesame Street series, Plazo Sesamo and went on to form a TV network in Mexico, Channel 8, which later merged with Telesistema Mexicano to form now-leading content firm Televisa.
