Long Lost Family turns up on TLC

TLC has ordered a local version of the Long Lost Family format.

The US cable net had piloted a US version of the evergreen series and has now ordered a full series, which will hit its air in March.

The show is distributed by Lineup Industries, the independent distributor run by former Endemol and Sony executives Ed Louwerse and Julian Curtis.

Long Lost Family has run for more than 20 years in the Netherlands and has also sold extensively internationally.

The KRO NCRV-owned format follows individuals desperate to be reunited with long lost parents, siblings or children, using public records, DNA technology and other resources.

The US version will be fronted by Chris Jacobs and Lisa Joyner who are both adoptees that have made their own journeys to find their biological families. It bows on TLC on Sunday March 6 in a 10pm slot.

Warner Bros. Television Group-owned prodco Shed Media US will make the show.

Other recent deals Lineup has sealed for the show include with Network Ten in Australia with WTFN on production duty. The show had previously been on Ten’s rival net, Seven, in Australia.

It is a long-running show throughout Scandinavia, in the UK on ITV, in Germany on RTL and in Italy on Rai. A previous US version of the format, Find My Family, went out on ABC in 2009.
