Sky Vision, Merman sign script deal
UK-based distributor Sky Vision has signed an exclusive three-script development deal with Merman, the transatlantic producer behind Channel 4 comedy Catastrophe.
Sky Vision will get a first look at a selection of scripted projects from Merman, with the option to distribute them internationally.
The sales arm of European satcaster Sky already sells scripted shows such as Fortitude, The Last Panthers and Fungus the Bogeyman.
Merman launched in 2014 as a partnership of comedy writer Sharon Horgan and producer Clelia Mountford. The company currently coproduces Catastrophe with Avalon and Birdbath Productions and the Sarah Jessica Parker HBO comedy Divorce.
“With hit shows on both sides of the Atlantic, Merman is a creative force to be reckoned with,” said Sky Vision’s director of drama and comedy, Kyle Munnich. “Its high quality scripts attract some of the industry’s leading names and we’re excited to be working with them on future projects.”
Merman recently created a joint venture with Pulse Films, Merman x Pulse, which will create content for brand and commercial makers.
