Fox orders Endemol Shine Germany format
US broadcaster Fox has ordered an eight-hour unscripted series, Superhuman, based on Endemol Shine Germany format The Brain.
This comes after Fox aired a two-hour special of the format on January 4.
The format sees contestants with extraordinary skills competing for a cash prize.
In Germany, the series is in its sixth season, while distributor Endemol Shine International has sold it into China, Italy, Brazil, Spain and France. Kids versions have been created in Germany and Spain.
Endemol Shine North America will produce the US remake. Rob Smith and Georgie Hurford-Jones are executive producing along with David Friedman.
Kal Penn, who hosted the special, will return for the full season.
Fox has had a mixed record with international unscripted formats in recent years, with its version of Dutch show Utopia cancelled in November 2014 after low ratings, and a version of Release the Hounds not making it to air after filming.
