Ellender exits producer Slingshot
Former FremantleMedia sales chief David Ellender has left the LA-based content producer he launched two years ago.
The former CEO of FremantleMedia International has left Slingshot Global Media, a parting that Deadline reported to be “amicable”.
Ellender launched Slingshot in February 2014 with backing from private investor TPG Growth.
The remaining staff, which includes head of scripted programming Quan Phung and international sales chief Carol Eymery, will continue to operate as normal.
Slingshot’s projects include action series Rain, which is planned to star Keanu Reeves and a Cleopatra TV series. Neither has gone into production.
Slingshot has also signed a first-look deal with El Jefe, a prodco launched by creators of Netflix horror drama Hemlock Grove; and has a non-exclusive development and production deal with EuropaCorp.
Ellender was chief executive of FMI predecessor FremantleMedia Enterprises between 2006 and 2013.
