A+E plots scripted pact with Harlequin
A+E Networks has created a creative partnership with book publisher Harlequin.
This will see the pair co-create original scripted movies, web series, books and digital content for international audiences. US cable group A+E will play the resulting content on its channels and through its channel partners worldwide.
HarperCollins Publishers-owned Harlequin is a female-focused company, which means the original content will target genres such as mystery, romance, thriller and suspense.
“We are excited to work with Harlequin, a company that shares our passion for entertaining women with compelling stories of empowerment,” said Rob Sharenow, executive VP and general manager, A&E, Lifetime and LMN.
“We are especially excited with the global scope of this deal that will enable us to bring great storytelling for women both in North America and to our channels and content partners around the world.”
Roman Roth will executive produce the first film from the pact through her Reel World Management imprint, with production set to begin in May in Canada.
