Hulu takes US streaming rights to Book of Negroes
Hulu has taken exclusive US rights to Canadian miniseries The Book of Negroes.
The deal means the six-part series, which comes from author Lawrence Hill and follows a slave who survives against the odds during the American Revolution and around the world.
The series took huge ratings on BET in the US on cable and CBC in Canada, where it became the highest rating original drama since 1990s Road to Avonlea.
Hulu, which has been ramping up its content offer in order to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video, is now offering the show, which comes from Conquering Lion Pictures, Out of Africa Entertainment, distributor Entertainment One Television and Idlewild Films.
