NBCU reality SVOD service hits Virgin
Reality TV SVOD service Hayu is now available via Virgin TV’s cable platform.
Hayu is the new streaming service launched in the UK by NBCUniversal (as first reported by TBI sister publication DTVE).
It is programmed with NBCU and third-party reality and unscripted programming from the US and UK including Made in Chelsea, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives and Top Chef.
Virgin’s TV customer taking the XL TiVo package will get access to the streaming service for free as part of their existing subscription.
They will be able to access the service through their TiVo box via a dedicated app. It will also be available via the Red Button on the Virgin EPG.
Virgin said its other TV customers will be able to access Hayu later this year, but they will need to pay the regular £3.99 monthly subscription fee. For that they can watch the content on TV or on other connected devices.
There are currently 3,000 titles on Hayu and 50 series on the service are new to the UK.
Virgin, meanwhile, also has a deal with Netflix, marking another partnership between the traditional pay TV operator and an SVOD service.
