A+E scores Pulse rep deal
A+E Networks has entered into a multiyear deal with Vice Media-owned Pulse Films.
The deal will see A+E’s international arm selling Pulse’s unscripted and formats, as well as those from East Entertainment, the formats-focused joint venture UK-based Pulse and Israel’s Abot Halmieri launched last year.
“Establishing A+E Networks as the distribution partner for Pulse and East helps fulfil our ambition of providing provocative, award-winning content throughout our global network, including our channels and sales partners around the world,” said A+E Network’s chief creative officer, international, Amanda Hill (pictured).
This comes after Pulse drafted in former Fresh One Productions managing director Roy Ackerman to run its unscripted unit alongside former Channel 4 commissioning editor Emma Cooper.
Ex-Objective Productions formats exec Nathan Eastwood, meanwhile, launched East with Pulse and Halmieri last year.
“At both Pulse and East we are beginning to create non-fiction programs that are as unforgettable as the wave of extraordinary scripted shows we have all been binge-watching over the last few years – contemporary documentary, formats and blockbuster factual series that the market is now hungry for,” they said in a joint venture.
For A+E, the news comes soon after TBI revealed it had hired former Sony Pictures Television and Shine International executive Hayley Babcock to spearhead a push into formats.
Hearst Corp. and Disney-owned A+E holds a chunk of Vice, which earlier this year revealed it was buying Pineapple Dance Studios producer Pulse. The pair also co-launched the Viceland cable channel in the US.
