Marcella co-creator joins Tony Wood indie
Marcella co-creator Nicola Larder has joined the ITV show’s production company, Buccaneer Media, as executive producer of development.
Larder (pictured) has also worked with Buccaneer on Sky Living unscripted series Desi Rascals, as well as for indies such as World Productions and Leopard Drama.
She joins following the ratings success of Marcella, which she co-created with The Bridge writer Hans Rosenfeldt. Episode one on UK broadcaster ITV took a 27.6% share (6.1 million viewers) and maintained a strong audience.
In April, Netflix bought SVOD rights outside of the UK and Ireland, which was one of the bigger deals unveiled during the MIPTV week.
Larder will report to Buccaneer founder and CEO Tony Wood, and work alongside the firm’s other executive producer of development, Andrea Dewsbery.
She will work on a slate of scripted series with internationally popular writers – the same model employed on Marcella.
“Nicola has a fantastic track record in developing hit drama series.,” said Wood. “Following our work together on Marcella, it’s great to be welcoming Nicola to the Buccaneer team. We have some exciting new scripted projects in development and I’m looking forward to collaborating with Nicola to bring these to audiences around the world.”
Buccaneer’s upcoming series including a television version of sci-fi feature film Robot Overlords.
Wood launched the company in partnership with Cineflix Media. Last year, he poached Denis O’Connor from Endemol Shine UK to become head of unscripted.
