In-demand charts: Germany (May 1-7, 2016)
Our latest fortnightly feature in association with Parrot Analytics reveals the most in-demand shows* from another European territory, Germany, throwing up some familiar results.
House of Cards was top of the charts in Denmark last month, and is now the big digital winner in Germany, taking almost double the number of demand expressions as #2 series, 11/22/63. Game of Thrones, meanwhile, reigns supreme in the overall charts, another parallel to our results in April.
GOT’s lead is, in fact, more than ten million demands ahead of second-placed overall show The Big Bang Theory – one of our most clear-cut results yet.
Pretty Little Liars makes an appearance as the third-most demanded overall show, which shows the power of the young adult market in the US.
The Freeform series was just behind Big Bang and ahead of The Walking Dead, whose sister series, Fear the Walking Dead was popular despite GOT’s dominance.
Other regulars appearing in the overall charts include Grey’s Anatomy, Vikings and The 100 – once again proving US series remain popular, something the Hollywood studios will be pleased about ahead of the LA Screenings this month.
On the digital front, demand is significantly lower than overall demand – demonstrating linear TV remains the dominant local player. This trend has been present in all of our lists, but is perhaps more pronounced in Europe’s largest market.
Many usual suspects are present, with Netflix accouting for seven of the top ten. Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, Hulu’s 11/22/63 (playing locally on pay TV through Fox) and Yahoo’s Community round out the league.
