Vice appoints head of content
Vice Media has upped Ciel Hunter to its US-based head of content.
Hunter, who started as an intern at Vice eleven years ago, has been promoted from executive creative director.
She replaces Alex Miller who is returning to London to become creative director, Viceland EMEA.
In her new role at Vice, Hunter will oversee the media company’s digital channels and web content, and its presence on new mobile platforms such as Snapchat and go90.
She will also integrate this content with the Viceland linear channel, which is rolling out internationally.
“Vice continues to revolutionise the way we tell stories to our audience around the world,” said Hunter.
She added: “Over my 11 years here I’ve worked on a lot of the projects that helped Vice grow into the creative force it is today — and I’m thrilled to get working with our writers, editors, and photographers to take Vice to the next level.”
Shane Smith, founder and CEO of Vice said: “Ciel-is-Vice. She is a perfect example of what makes us unique. Starting as an intern then climbing up the ladder as the company grew.
“At the pointy edge of the spear where tech and content collide and with an unerring nose for quality. Knowing her as I do, I can tell you Vice and our other verticals are in for quite a ride in the years to come.”
