Cisneros inks Brazilian Barreto deal

Venezuelan distributor Cisneros Media has inked a deal with the Brazilian Barreto family and will sell a range of its films to broadcasters and platforms internationally.

Bareto has been producing films and shorts out of Brazil since the early 1960s and Cisneros will take a slate of over 80 to market.

Classic titles in the catalogue include Dona Flor and her Two Husbands and, more recently, Lula, the Son of Brazil (pictured).

“The Barreto family members are internationally renowned for having produced, written, directed, and filmed movies that have received many awards and mesmerised vast galleries of fans around the globe,” said Marcello Coltro executive VP, content distribution, Cisneros Media.

“Luiz Carlos and Lucy, and their children Bruno, Fabio and Paula, are the ‘First Family of Cinema’ in Brazil.”
