CBS sells Corden talker to new RTL web net
The Late Late Show with James Corden will go out in Germany on RTL’s new internet-only linear network.
RTL II You, which launched on May 31, will play the show following an agreement with CBS Studios International.
Each episode will broadcast within 24 hours of the US broadcast, without German dubbing.
The Late Late Show has been a major US hit since launch in March 2015, with its Carpool Karaoke segment (pictured) so popular online, with more than 600 million YouTube views, that CBS is now licensing it as a format.
“The show has redefined late night broadcasting to the digital generation and we look forward to giving German audiences access to what is undoubtedly the ultimate late night after-party,” said Armando Nuñez, president and CEO, CBS Global Distribution Group.
Nadja Raoufi, senior VP, programme acquisitions and new channel development at RTL II said: “We are very proud that The Late Late Show is a part of RTL II You. CBS’s worldwide, successful show perfectly complements the portfolio on RTL II You and hits the mark among our young target group.”
