NBC Entertainment gives bigger role to Cheeks
NBC Entertainment has promoted George Cheeks to president, business affairs and late night programming.
Cheeks (pictured) has held an executive VP role since November 2014, and will remain reporting to NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt in his expanded post.
Cheeks oversees various elements of the NBC Entertainment business, including production operations for Universal Television and Universal Cable Productions, and NBC’s late night slate, which includes Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Before joining Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, which houses NBC, in 2012, Cheeks was a long serving Viacom employee, rising to the role of EVP, business affairs and general counsel for Viacom Music and Entertainment Groups, Content Distribution and Marketing.
He has also worked at Castle Rock Entertainment.
For NBCU, the move closely follows Pearlena Igbokwe being elevated to president of Universal TV.
