German miniseries Ku’damm 56 continues
Following strong ratings and international sales, German period miniseries Ku’damm 56 will continue in a new guise.
Ku’damm 59 (WT) will keep the same cast and continue to follow the life of Caterina Schöllack and her three daughters in a restrictive 1950s Germany. FremantleMedia-owned UFA will again produce for pubcaster ZDF, with the latter’s commercial arm, ZDF Enterprises, selling it internationally.
This comes after the three-part Ku’damm 56 aired on ZDF in March to an average share of 17.5%, became the best performing programme on ZDF’s on-demand platforms this year, and after international sales were secured in the US, UK, Denmark, Slovakia and Estonia.
ZDFE is also close to deals in Sweden, Norway, Finland, France and the Benelux region, with other markets in eastern and western Europe, and Latin America expressing interest, according to the distributor. Inquiries have also been received on format rights.
