Dramacorp hires Blue Eyes co-creator
Fledgling prodco Dramacorp has hired the co-creator of SVT political drama Blue Eyes.
Mia Sohlman (pictured) will become executive producer of the prodco, which Swedish-French drama producer Patrick Nebout and Beta Films founder Jan Mojto launched as a joint venture this April.
Sohlman was co-creator and executive producer on Blue Eyes (Blå Ögon), which aired to large ratings on SVT in Sweden in 2014 and went to sell to platforms such as Netflix. It recently ran in the UK on digital channel More4 and has been added to Walter Presents, Channel 4’s foreign-language VOD service.
Sohlman has worked in various roles over the past decade for companies such as Strix Drama in Scandinavia. At Dramacorp, she will develop and produce a slate of new projects, which the company says are due for announcement.
Nebout, the co-founder of Nice Drama who launched Dramacorp after leaving Paris-based Atlantique Productions, said he and Sohlman shared “the same vision of the kind of high-concept projects Dramacorp is set to develop and produce”.
“I joined Dramacorp both because of the opportunity to be part of the start-up of a company and mostly because of the vision Patrick Nebout has for it,” said Sohlman.
“Dramacorp has the freedom and flexibility to allow creativity and funding to happen in the best way possible for the project. With limitations taken away and such a sound infrastructure in place from our backers, this is truly an exciting time to be at the forefront of creating excellent drama.”
