Catastrophe continues at Amazon
Amazon Prime Video in the US will have the next two seasons of British relationship comedy Catastrophe.
UK broadcaster Channel 4 this week ordered seasons three and four of the show, which comes from Avalon Television, Merman and Birdbath Productions.
Amazon had invested in the first two seasons in exchange for exclusive on-demand rights in the US, and this set up will remain going forwards.
The series comes from Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan, who write and star. They play a transatlantic couple who are forced to make things work when Horgan’s character falls pregnant early on.
Season three will debut on Amazon in 2017, with season four expected to follow in 2018.
“Few series have proven themselves as personal and compelling while deftly balancing comedy and drama,” said Joe Lewis, head of half-hour TV for Amazon Studios. “Like an ever-growing family, two more seasons of Catastrophe will give our customers more love, laughter, and occasional insults yelled very loudly.”
