Germany’s Beta makes another Spanish drama move
Munich-based Beta Film has picked up international rights to Spanish TV drama Light of Elna.
The German distributor has fared well with Spanish drama, successfully selling Velvet and Grand Hotel, and has added a new Spanish titles to its sales slate.
Nazi refugee TV movie Light of Elna is directed by Sílvia Quer (Velvet, Grand Hotel) and has been set up as a Spanish-Swiss copro between by Distinto Films, Producciones Cibeles and Bohemian Films.
Televisió de Catalunya, Canal Sur, Radio Télévision Suisse and Televisión Española are the channel partners. It is in production and wraps at end of July.
The drama follows a young Swiss teacher who sets up a maternity unit for World War II Spanish and Jewish refugees.
Beta Film will be shopping the drama to international buyers at MIPCOM in October.
