B’casters check into Hotel Hell, have Nightmares
All3Media International has shopped local versions of its Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell formats to European broadcasters.
In Portugal, commercial broadcaster TVI has ordered Kitchen Nightmares, in which a successful restaurateur mentors less struggling restaurant owners. Shine Iberia is producing the 13-part format locally.
Elsewhere in Iberia, Spanish free TV station La Sexta has greenlit a sixth season of its local version of the show, which is produced by Warner Bros. Also in Spain, Discovery Networks has commissioned the first local adaptation of Hotel Hell.
The eight-episode show, following an expert hotelier helping their less successful counterparts, follows Discovery Networks Italy ordering a local version of the show. Again, Shine Iberia will produce.
Facundo Bailez, formats sales manager, EMEA south and Latin America at All3Media International, said: “Both formats are perfect for international adaptation, guaranteeing compelling primetime entertainment full of big characters and real-life stories, and following their success in Europe we’re looking forward to announcing further commissions in Latin America later this year.”
Hotel Hell was originally made by Gordon Ramsay’s One Potato Two Potato for Channel 4 in the UK. Kitchen Nightmares, starring Gordon Ramsay, was originally made by All3 prodco Optomen for Channel 4.
Celebrity chef Ramsay recently created a new prodco with All3Media, Studio Ramsay.
