Amazon Loops in DHX with kids deal
Amazon has acquired animated series Looped for its Prime Instant Video service in the US.
The deal sees Amazon snag exclusive US streaming rights as part of a wider deal with DHX Media.
The Canada-based kids studio has also licensed five seasons of The Busy World of Richard Scarry, one season of Madeline and an associated special, Madeline Sing Along with her Friends, to Amazon in the US.
Looped follows two friends stuck in a Groundhog Day style loop, and constantly reliving the same Monday.
The 2D animated series was created by Neptoon Studios’ Todd Kauffman and Mark Thornton and produced by DHX for Canadian ids net Teletoon.
Josh Scherba, senior VP, distribution at DHX Media, said: “These deals reflect the growing investment that leading streaming services such as Amazon Prime are making to offer distinctive, high-quality children’s programming for their subscribers.”
