Kirstine Stewart leaves Twitter

High-profile Canadian media exec Kirstine Stewart is leaving her role as vice president, media, at Twitter.

Stewart is well-known in Canadian and international TV circles having run programming at Canadian pubcaster the CBC. Prior to that she was at one-time Canadian media giant Alliance Atlantis, and at Hallmark in the US.

She joined Twitter three years ago, direct from the CBC as the social media firm set up its Canadian office. She has been overseeing the company’s media partnerships as it continues to try and integrate its service with brands, and introduce commercial elements.

During her tenure she is credited with integrating live streaming service Periscope, and adding live programming to Twitter feeds.

Her departure is the latest in a line of senior execs exiting the social media platform in an exec shuffle that has seen former CEO Jack Dorsey return to the company.

Twitter confirmed Stewart’s departure locally but declined to give details or say whether she will be replaced. Stewart told local press she will remain in her post for some time. There has been no indication of her next move.
