Burman teams with Mediapro
Spain-based channel operator and producer Mediapro is teaming with Daniel Burman’s Argentina-based prodco, and the pair will work up new projects for the international market.
Burman, via his Oficina Burman banner, is one of Argentina’s top TV and film producers. With Mediapro, owner of the La Sexta channel in Spain, he will develop new TV series.
MediaPro is expanding internationally and has just opened an Buenos Aires office, from which it will coordinate its activity with Burman.
It already has a presence in Argentina, making the local versions of Survivor and Who wants to be a Millionaire?, as well as owning production and post-production business PromTV.
It has also hired former Keshet exec Ran Tellem and secured a new credit line that it will use to find its international plans.
The creative team working on the new slate includes Spanish director and screenwriter Clara Roquet, who is in charge of coordinating projects, and Carlos Marques-Marcet (10,000 KM).
Burman, who made The Motorcycle Diaries among other films, is expanding his efforts in TV. The deal with Mediapro follows a project with Brazil’s Globo, which saw him adapt Spanish-language project Supermax for the Brazilian media giant.
He is also working with Netflix on its first Argentine original, the fashion- and music-themed drama Edha.
