Hulu snags Homeland from Fox
Hulu has acquired premium drama series from Fox.
The hit drama goes out on premium cable net Showtime in the US. It is produced by Fox 21 and distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, which struck the US streaming deal.
The agreement gives Hulu the first four seasons of the drama, which is based on Keshet’s Israel scripted show Prisoners of War.
Hulu has been investing in originals and acquiring big-ticket drama for its AVOD and SVOD service. Homeland will sit alongside other high-profile acquisitions of cable and broadcast shows including Roots, Empire, Fargo and Lucifer.
Craig Erwich, senior VP and head of content, Hulu said: “This series has drawn in audiences for years on SHOWTIME and we cannot wait to give even more viewers the chance to watch and discover it on Hulu.”
Gina Brogi, executive VP Worldwide pay TV & SVOD at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. “This series is ripe for the binging and we’re excited for Hulu’s fan base to experience the adrenaline rush that Homeland offers season after season.”
