Channel 4, Corus Hunting Nazi Treasure
UK broadcaster Channel 4 and Corus Entertainment’s Canadian History channel have ordered Hunting Nazi Treasure, following the trail of artworks and objects looted by the Nazis at the end of World War II.
In the UK it will play on Channel 4’s More4 digital net, and on the linear specialty net History in Canada.
The investigative series is being made by Saloon Media and BriteSpark, the latest collaboration between the Canada and UK indies who have previously made true crime series Handsome Devils. Brite Spark is backed by UK production and distribution group Argonon.
Production on Hunting Nazi Treasure starts in September, for delivery in 2017. It will follow a team of investigators across four continents as they attempt to track the stolen artefacts.
“We are proud to be working with such a formidable group of production partners to bring this epic expedition to light on History,” said Daniel Eves, senior VP, kids and general entertainment content, Corus Entertainment. “Through this investigative approach, we pull the curtain back on one of the biggest thefts in history and share the important stories of those who were affected.”
“New clues will be unearthed and painstakingly pieced together in the effort to track down treasures,” added Michael Kot, executive producer, Saloon. “But the real payoff comes from seeing these beloved items back in the hands of their rightful owners.”
Several factual projects have picked up the trail of objects stolen by the Nazis. Late last year, Discovery said it was going to film efforts to find a buried Nazi train thought to contain gold and priceless works of art.
