Comedy Central multiplatform chief exits for Getty
Comedy Central is saying goodbye to its senior VP of multiplatform programming and strategy, Steve Grimes.
He is headed for a new role as managing editor and SVP of consumer media at photography and visual content giant Getty Images.
Based in New York, Grimes will report to Getty CEO Dawn Airey, the former programming chief of Channel 5 and Sky. He begins the role on September 8 and gains a place on the firm’s executive committee.
Grimes has been with Viacom-owned Comedy Central for the past six years, joining from The Topps Company and rising to his current SVP post.
He is credited, among other things, with launching the CC: Stand-up app, and has overseen all digital programming extensions and aspects of non-linear programming on apps, social media and VOD for The Daily Show, Key & Peele and Inside Amy Schumer.
He has also worked at National Basketball Association, was general manager of RealNetworks and has worked at the Walt Disney Internet Group.
