AMC orders true crime trio for CBS Reality
AMC Networks International – UK has commissioned a trio of true crime programmes for its joint venture channel CBS Reality.
First to air on August 29 is Uncovering Melanie’s Murderer, which is a 1x60mins special about the frenzied rape and murder of teenager Melanie Road in 1984.
It comes from Peninsula Films, which is also producing 10x60min series The Day I Should Have Died and 1x60mins Slave to Love.
The Day I Should Have Died is a series that tells gruelling and harrowing tales of a different survivor’s brush with death. The first episode focuses on Gill Hicks, who lived through the 7/7 London bombings on 2005.
Slave to Love follows the story of murderer Graham Dwyer, a seemingly respectable architect and family man who killed his sex slave, Elaine O’Hara in the Dublin mountains and tried to conceal the body.
Sam Rowden, AMC Networks International – UK’s director of programming, for CBS Reality and new media, commissioned the shows. She said: “With crime documentaries resonating so well with our audience, CBS Reality’s aim is to continue to present our viewers with the most intriguing and challenging crime cases.”
CBS Reality is a JV of AMCNI – UK and CBS Studios International, CBS’s overseas distribution arm.
