W begins Dancing, heads for Dressing Room
UKTV-owned W has commissioned new doc series from STV Productions and Electric Ray.
From Scottish network STV’s production wing comes The Dressing Room, a fly-on-the-wall 6x60mins series for 2017. GroupM Entertainment is coproducer.
The fixed rig series takes viewers into dressing rooms around the UK. Sports featured include football, roller derby and water polo, and cover male and female teams.
Dancing for the Weekend is also 6x60mins and follows the “surreal characters who moonlight as amateur dancers and live for the thrill of weekend competitions”.
Sony Pictures Television-backed Electric Ray is producing.
“The Dressing Room promises a unique insight into the way we relate as people during our most highly charged moments,” said Steve North, W general manager who co-commissioned both shows.
“Dancing For The Weekend captures the extraordinary passions of ordinary people and will be full of warm, funny and inspirational characters.”
W is part of the BBC Worldwide- and Scripps Networks International-owned UKTV. It branded from former identity Watch last year.
