Lifetime lays off Devious Maids
US network Lifetime has cancelled female-skewed comedy-drama Devious Maids after four seasons.
The A+E Network-owned channel has chosen not to order a fourth season, and the Marc Cherry show’s Twitter feed subsequently confirmed the news.
Lifetime had picked up the show in 2012 after broadcast network ABC rejected it.
ABC sister ABC Studios produces the series, which is based on Televisa novela Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar (The Disorderly Maids of the Neighborhood) and follows five maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.
The show’s creator, Cherry, was also behind the US version of Desperate Housewives.
