RTL to Meet the Parents with ITVS Germany

ITV Studios Germany is producing a six-episode version of British format Meet the Parents for local broadcaster RTL.

In the dating format, which was originally from ITV Studios and for ITV in the UK, a single girl questions the parents of five men about subjects such as their school reports, teenage antics and love lives.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment sells the format, and secured the deal with commercial broadcaster RTL, which plans to debut its version later this year.

ITVS executive VP, global development and formats Mike Beale said the format was “funny, touching and surprising with a warm tone, which so many networks are looking for now”.

ITV commissioned the original version in May, with Holly Willoughby (pictured) attached to present.
