AMC takes American Gothic for Iberia
AMC has bought drama series American Gothic for its Iberia service.
The show will bow on AMC in Spain and Portugal next week after AMC struck a deal with CBS Studios International, which distributes the 13-parter.
American Gothic is CBS’ latest summer event series, a format the US network has pioneered.
Like other CBS event series Under the Dome and Extant, American Gothic comes from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.
It is a one-hour murder mystery set in Boston, following a prominent family in the wake of its recently deceased patriarch being linked to series of murders.
Giovanni Pedde, senior VP, Europe, CBS Studios International. “American Gothic is one of the newest additions to CBS’s exciting summer event series and brings a high-concept, entertaining storyline to audiences in Spain and Portugal.”
The agreement hands AMC exclusive basic cable rights in Iberia.
“We’re thrilled to bring this fascinating story to AMC exclusively for Spain and Portugal,” said Pilar de las Casas, VP movies and factual Channels of AMC Networks International Iberia. “American Gothic is a premium network quality show, with the distinct quality of a CBS Television Studios production, and we’re confident it will become a success in the Iberian market.”
