Alex Graham takes Guardian parent chair
Not long after establishing Two Cities Television, Alex Graham has been named chairman of the Scott Trust, the parent of the Guardian newspaper.
Graham’s name has returned to headlines this year after launching Two Cities with former Channel 4 CEO Michael Jackson and reports surfaced about a separate venture with the founders of All3Media.
Alongside those developments, an internal staff email sent yesterday revealed Graham would be chair of the Scott Trust.
He has sat of the board since January 2013, a year before he decided to step down from Wall to Wall, the prodco he had co-created back in 1987. Wall to Wall is now part of Warner Bros. Television Production UK, which acquired the prodco’s parent, Shed Media, in 2010.
Graham began his career as a journalist before becoming a producer. At the Scott Trust, he replaces Liz Forgan, who announced the news to staff in an internal email yesterday.
“I am delighted we have appointed a successor who will continue to provide the strong leadership required to guarantee the editorial integrity
of the Guardian and a financially sound future for the Guardian Media Group,” she said.
Guardian News & Media, last week revealed it was relaunching its Guardian Documentaries wing. Twelve films produced in partnership with the Bertha Foundation will focus on social and economic justice, and human rights stories.
