360Production nabs Renegade producer
Britain-based 360Production has hired Belinda Cherrington from Renegade Pictures to become its first creative director of UK factual.
Cherrington is an experienced executive producer, who among other roles launched Mentorn Media’s US development office in 2011.
Her new company is a factual-focused London- and Northern Ireland-based firm that was acquired by Rare TV in 2014.
At Warner Bros. Television Production UK-owned Renegade, she focused on generating specialist factual programming for BBC Two, Channel 4 and BBC Four in an executive producer capacity.
Cherrington began her career at the BBC, and has gone on to hold senior and executive positions at Lion Television, Films of Record, Mentorn Media, Tigress Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions. She has also directed episodes of BBC One series Hotel, and developed programmes such BBC Two’s Ben’s Zoo, ITV’s Surgery School and Channel 4’s Around the World in 80 Trades.
“From documentary through to specialist factual formats, content-rich factual is becoming increasingly hybrid and broad,” said Cherrington. “This is a real opportunity to inject emotion, process and event across the whole factual slate here at 360.”
360Production creative director Ailsa Orr said Cherrington was joining “at a time when 360 is poised to enter its next phase of growth, which includes popularising our factual slate as well and developing formats for the UK and international market”.
Eight-year-old 360Production became part of Rare TV in June 2014, and was later joined by Screen Channel Television in the stable. Its recent commissions include Pearl Harbor: The Heroes Who Fought Back (working title) for American Heroes Channel.
