A+E nets Alfie Allen’s Story of Football
A+E Networks UK has commissioned Woodcut Media and The Development Partnership to coproduce two-part documentary presented yby a Game of Thrones star about the birth of football in Britain.
Alfie Allen’s Story of Football (WT) will air on pay TV channel History in the UK, with Content Media attached to distribute internationally.
Presenter Allen (left) is best known for his role as Theon Greyjoy in HBO’s GOT. In the doc, he will explore the stories, moments and characters that have defined football over the past century by travelling the UK.
The series will touch on themes of fans, stadiums, the Football Association, gender, diversity and chants.
Woodcut and The Development Partnership, which is the production arm of London Talent Agency, are coproducing with Krempelwood Entertainment, a content financier that’s part of the branded content agency Krempelwood.
“Like Alfie Allen, History’s viewers are big fans of the beautiful game,” said History and H2 director of programming Rachel Job, “so we are confident that this show will build on the success of other talent-led projects on HISTORY, including Sean Bean on Waterloo and the upcoming Ronnie O’Sullivan’s American Hustle, by taking a novel approach to a subject that both the star presenters and our viewers are passionate about.”
