HBO, Keshet team for Israeli kidnap drama
HBO and Keshet International are making a ten-part show dramatising events surrounding the 2014 disappearance of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank.
Premium US cable net HBO and the international arm of Israeli broadcaster Keshet said the drama will be filmed on location in Israel next year.
The project, which is currently untitled, comes from In Treatment and The Affair scribe Hagai Levi. It will follows the kidnap of the teens and the subsequent series of violence and reprisals it triggered, as seen through the eyes of an idealistic detective.
It has been set up as a coproduction between Keshet Studios and HBO, with Movie Plus distributing. Keshet International will distribute the series.
Casey Bloys, HBO’s president, programming, said: “We’re excited to work with Keshet and this extremely talented and creative group led by Hagai Levi. We look forward to sharing this important story with our subscribers.”
Avi Nir, CEO, Keshet Media Group, said: “We are thrilled to partner with HBO, the ultimate quality TV powerhouse, and to bring together Israel’s finest in TV and film, led by Hagai Levi, Noah Stollman and Joseph Cedar.”
