108 to bring Passionate TV to Cannes
North America and Asia-based distributor 108 Media will launch a life-affirming factual series, Passionate TV, in Cannes.
The series follows individuals who have followed a dream, or taken a new route in life in order to affect positive change.
108 Media will be looking to place the show at MIPCOM and is looking at an array of partners.
“These are stories of individuals who have followed their dreams and overcome obstacles, and its shows if you are passionate you can change the world,” says Aliy Brown, 108’s director of distribution.
“We’re looking at all avenues for Passionate TV, digital, and news and cable channels, and we think online is really interesting.”
In each instalment of the show an individual talks through their passion Oprah’s Master Class style.
People covered include a former NYC night club promoter, Scott Harrison, who creates a clean water charity, Adam Braun, a bestselling author who helps people access quality education, and Nancy Lublin (pictured), who established an SMS based help line for people who need help.
Maria Peek, Co-founder and Executive Producer at Auroris Media, adds “This series is a project of passion for us as much as it is the subject matter. It is a great opportunity to be working with the incredible team at 108 Media to bring Passionate TV to audiences worldwide.”
108 Media’s head of international sales, Jordan Nutson, will be leading the sales charge in Cannes.
The distributor has also scooped the TV rights to Kyokushin Karate and will be shopping rights to upcoming live matches as well as classic bouts.
“It’s with great honour we take the live programming of Kyokushin Karate to broadcasters outside of Japan” said Ryo Ebe, managing director, 108 Asia.
“As karate has become an official sport of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, we believe more audiences around the globe will enjoy its art, discipline and strength.”
