RTL secures new NBCU output deal
Mediagruppe RTL Deutschland has secured a new output deal with NBCUniversal International Distribution.
This hands the German network group first-run, free TV rights to upcoming NBCU movies and television series.
The pair have an existing output agreement, but the new deal hands RTL new instalments of the Fast & Furious and 50 Shades of Shades of Grey franchises.
Also included are NBCU catalogue titles such as Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU and Monk, and from the 2018/19 season RTL will get all new NBCU-produced series.
“NBCUniversal and Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland have been very successful partners for many years now,” said Joerg Graf (left), executive vice president, production and acquisitions.
“This existing, close and trustworthy partnership allowed NBCUniversal and Mediengruppe RTL to close a further and even expanded deal. We’re proud of a deal which perfectly reflects the current and future standards of content and its distribution through our linear and non-linear platforms.”
“This deal is the latest exciting chapter in a highly valued relationship with Mediengruppe RTL that is nearing almost four successful decades of partnership,” said Belinda Menendez, president, NBCUniversal International Distribution & Networks. “We are delighted that Mediengruppe RTL’s audiences can anticipate premieres of NBCU’s top-quality feature film slate and TV series through our multi-year renewed relationship.”
